I have a 2002/2003 johnson 90hp two stroke carburetor eng on my boat. when i take my boat out it stars fine and runs good till i stop then when i try to start the eng again it wont start the only way i was able to start the engine was to drain the carburetors and start the engine with the throttle full open. but when i decelerate the eng shuts off it only works at full throttle. please help me with this...

I hear this form time-to-time. In some cases it's an operator problem. A cold engine start procedure includes "opening the throttle, and "choking" the engine. Possibly priming the fuel line. etc. A warm/hot engine is started differently. The throttle should be at idle, and no choke used at all. Try to have the engine at idle and turn the engine off and then turn it back on moments later. It should start right up. If it will not do that, there could be several adjustments that need to be made, "Link-N-Sync" or possible other issues like the wrong spark plug, bad fuel, gummed carburetors, etc. Most of these requires some expertise to diagnose and repair.

Chances are you did not unplug the gasoline line and run it till it died, walking it out of gasoline, Id say the carbs want wiped clean, the ancient gasoline is long gone leaving best the gum within the carbs. you can get Lucky and be ready to take away the drains from the backside of the carbs and use the pump ball to drive gum out into the carbs, substitute the plugs, re pump and permit it set for an afternoon then take away the plugs drain the carbs, you'll inform in the event you had a few good fortune if the gasoline is soiled watching, substitute the plugs re pump and notice if it begin,s,

Sounds like U have a float sticking open and floods the engine. If the engine has been sitting than drain the carbs and run Gumout threw them let sit and try again with Gumout in the gas mix. Might work if not than rebuild and clean them.I Use Gumout as it's the strongest and works.

My guess would be plug wires as when the wires are hot they do not conduct well at all and the second thing that comes to mind would be after shutting down the motor it may still pump some fuel in it flooding it out but I would check out the plug wires first
