Pl. help me
One joined Merchant Navy in Dec 08 through an agent of Bombay. His Ship was hijacked by sea pirates in Somalia in Jan 09. As we get informed through media in the month of Apr 09 that a bullet ricochet and hit his head as a result he died at the spot. Parents of deceased was not informed neither by the company nor by the agent. Ship was under investigation that has been complete and all crew members returned to their homes. His parents did not received any communication from agent/company. They are still awaiting for his dead body and belongings which has not yet sent by Shipping company. Pl hep suggesting what his parents do.

If this is legit then the parents must pursue the employer in the first instance. They should inform their local police and parliamentary representative.

I would suggest that the parents speak to whichever Union the sailor was a member of.

They should be able to provide them with all the assistance required.

To be honest, the shipping company or recruiting agent should have been in contact by now, and the body returned for burial.

To be honest, ive had a look around and I cant find any information on any fatalities involving Somalian Pirates in January 2009.

contact immediately agent in Bombay

contact immediately the consulate or embassy of the country of origin of the crew in India.

Put max pressure on the agent as he is fully responsible for sending back the body

i hope this is legit
